How safe is DC++ at ucsb?

I'm just wondering how viable an alternative DC++ is for, you know, illegal stuff. Like 10GB games. Right now I'm tethering my computer to my phone's mobile internet for torrenting, but it is extremely slow. uTorrent is showing an average of 27.6 kB/s. I said slow right? I can't live with that. If i used DC++ it would use resnet's internet which would probably average over 1mB/s. So i'm wondering how safe DC++ is. What's the chance I'll get caught, and what will they do if i get caught? Also what happened to gauchoinsider? Is it just me or did the site go down or something?

I don’t think you’re allowed to use p2p programs on resnet’s internet. They take away your internet for a month or something

its blocked unless you know a workaround it.
there is a local intranet for DC++ sbhub.ath.cx not sure if it is still up

yeah i got dc++ and o couldn’t get on sbhub so i think it’s probably down. Oh well.

I’d recommend getting Usenet subscription.
No chance of getting caught by MPAA or the like, it’s not P2P, and it’s faster.
You can get a deal at about $6 a month, or even free if you really look.

Your college PROBABLY won’t be able to see that you’re downloading pirated material, because like I said it’s not P2P, and the files are all binary coded and split up (makes transfer faster).
