How safe is the campus really??? With all these bomb threat, must it be scary for current and new/going to be Pitt Student??

Ridiculously safe. Seriously. I’ve walked around campus, ALONE, with my laptop, at all hours (morning, EARLY morning, evening, LATE evening/after midnight) and never felt worried. There are tons of “blue lights” (poles with buttons to alert the police) all over the place if you ever get nervous. Plus the free Safety Shuttle for taking you back to your dorm if you are nervous. There haven’t really been any incidents ON CAMPUS of danger in the last 4 years I’ve been here. A few off campus issues, but most of those were relatively low-key too.

Not at all. All that mess is over with, and “the threateners” haven’t pulled any of that nonsense since a week before graduation. I’ve been on campus almost all summer and it’s kind of a hazy memory at this point-- none of the regulations are in place any more. It’s basically a normal campus again.

My D was a freshman last year during the bomb threats. Yes, it was scary at first, but after a while students adjusted to the situation. Although some of her friends went home early, she stuck it out through finals and has not voiced any concerns about it since then.

In the 3-4 times I have visited Oakland I have found it to be very safe. I am from Philly and I would say that Oakland is way safer than, say, the neighborhood of U Penn. In short, I wouldn’t be worried about safety!
