how scanning works

on the sat, i made some mistakes and when i erased i tried to erase as fully as possible but there was still some dark part in the wrong answer...but I made sure to darken the correct asnwer well...will there be any problems? also, on one of the questions I filled it in soo hard that I ripped a teeny whole in the bubble...any problems here???

anyone...plz....

A few weeks ago someone posted something saying that the scanning works by comparing relative darkness.. which would mean that you'd be fine as far as the erasing goes.

The tear in the answer sheet can't be a good thing for you, though.... the worst than can happen is that you'll pay for hand scoring (which would suck, but wouldn't affect your scores)

good luck

is a tear a bad thing tho??? especially if if the rest of the bubble is dark?

anyone...any expersts on scantrons

I'd like to know as well...

I didn't rip any but damn it was hard to erase bubbles completely. My answer was darker than the erase marks no doubt, but there was a noticable dark spot where I erased.

Well, if you ever retake, make sure to bring a good eraser. You'd hate to have one of those basically unusable ones on the test, while soft, good ones erase almost completely. :)
