I wish Deerfield had a log-on… snail mail uses more paper, costs more, and takes longer than email…

i read somewhere that if you live within about 3 hours of the school it will arrive ON the 10th

YellowUbi, I agree 100% w/ you and I hope BSs read this and revamp towards todays technology, email @ midnight and send light weight mail later. ;)

Not to mention, the conservation of paper is quite eco-friendly… something they could brag about to prospective students! :)

Yeah, and they do have that Green Cup Challenge… we shouldn’t let Deerfield and Milton fall behind! D8 Imagine your acceptance letter multiplied by about 300. That’s how many trees are murdered when one could just hit a couple of pixels!

Pulp trees are a crop so no murder is involved. Now the production of paper is a different story altogether, and the ink, and the fuel used to transport letters…but the trees are fine. Don’t worry about the trees.

:C My point on trees has been killed… but yes, think about the ink and all the fuel in mail-carrying trucks and planes!

Sorry, but I’m a bit confused here. Since all the schools that post online also follow up with snail mail, how is it that Milton, Loomis, Deerfield, etc. are the sole source of wasted paper???

That’s a good point… XD maybe it’s twice as bad because some kids have to wait longer?

I suppose we shouldn’t use that against them, then. ;)

I think Deerfield and other “snail-mail” schools use mail because it’s traditional, and the suspense is what makes the acceptance even more rewarding.

This is why I don’t watch Thriller movies… I don’t mix well with suspense. XDDD I’m just too curious to find out!

does anybody know if exeter’s decision can be accessed through online login if you cant get to the email?

@Sabre - To my knowledge, no. Email is the only source on the 10th.

To summarize the Deerfield notification:
- You will receive a large envelope that says, “Congratulations!” on the outside; one for the parent and one for the applicant.
- The envelopes are postmarked the 10th, but mailed the 9th, so those “nearby” receive them on the 10th. (They are sent regular mail, no priority. Probably over 70% of the Deerfield applicants receive their decisions on the 10th.)
- I believe international students are emailed their decisions, but I don’t know at what time.

Thanks to all who have compiled or updated the master acceptance method list.

The last iteration of the list states, “Phillips Andover - large FedEx for acceptances on March 10, mail for other.” Does this mean that Andover overnights acceptances for delivery on March 10? Or does it indicate that Andover sends its Federal Express acceptances on March 10 for a March 11 delivery?

Any clarification would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

From previous year’s posts, 99% of the time it arrives on the 10th.

i remember a few years ago (maybe it was 2, could have been 3), andover’s packages/letters arrived late. it seems they were on time last year… anyway, lesson is, if it doesn’t arrive on m10, don’t lose all hope… :)

Dive, I think that was just because M10 (or M9) fell on a weekend.

does anyone know if it is possible to access the decision b4 3? it says by 3 but i was wondering the chances of it actually being up before 3.

Above, someone mentions Andover will make decisions available to internationals thru the MyAndover application by 5p. Does anyone know if they will do the same for domestic apps? i.e. Can you check for your decision using My Andover?
