how screwed am I?

ok,
I was doing allright on my Junior year until the second semester.
On first semester, I got straight A's. Then, I got really distracted and bombed all my classes on second semester.
Now that I am senior and preparing for college apps, how screwed am I with this academic downhill??

Very much…

well maybe if you get good grades on your first quarter during your senior year, the “screwing up” factor will lessen

With the possible exception of first sem senior year, second sem junior year is the most important one for college admissions.

So basically, you are screwed.

Come up with a very very very very very very very excellent excuse. Ie: your ____ died.

Well whats your definition of “bombed”?

You also need those teachers’ recommendations. What do you think they will write?

Im assuming that it will certainly lessen your chances in the school of your choice. Colleges want to see an upward trend showing how much you have improved and grown. What do you consider bombed?

Since you haven’t provided exact data, we’re probably all thinking you pretty much flunked all your classes second semester. If your average dropped to B+/B, while still not great, it’s not such a disaster either. If you really feel that you have seriously jeopardized your chances at all your schools of interest, you might consider doing as well as possible senior year and then doing a gap year where you really work on making yourself stand out. You’d have to think about how you could do that in a way that makes sense to you and your future goals. By delaying applying to college, you would be able to show a full year of improved grades, rather than 1 semester.

Yeah, I’m surpised no one except hpandu asked what the op’s def. of bombed is. Bombed in the ‘normal’ world means C- or less, but here, he could be saying he dropped to an A- or something. The OP definetely needs to specify before anyone can give any useful advice.

By “bombed” I assumed D’s… barely passing. If it’s A- instead of A+, get real.

So, if it’s D’s: State U looking iffy. Do a year at local/community to make up for one semester. Not a good semester to bomb. Sorry.

If it’s A-: write your killer essays!
