How badly are the drop in grades and classes going to affect my chances of getting into top-tier schools? Can good grades during the first semester of senior year offset the drop in any way?

I know this isn't enough information to assess my chances at top schools. I'm asking this simply in terms of class grades.

It’s not that big a deal. Of course they’ll affect your chances. Don’t worry; apply.

I was expecting to see some kind of drastic mistake. Your thread title led me on.

A couple B’s here and there definitely won’t kill you, and colleges take the competitiveness of your school into account. In short, you have nothing to worry about. Stay focused and you’ll be fine.

Why didn’t you complete AP Chem?

Um…I don’t see anything wrong here.

same question as celsius
Also, dont be such an over achiever seriously. your fine.

I didn’t complete AP Chem because I had way too much on my plate during the year. It’s regarded as the hardest class at my school, and had I stuck with it, I wouldn’t be surprised if my transcript currently read “you fail at life.”

PS. It’s hard to think suddenly having five B’s is okay when you’re used to getting straight A’s. Also, the people here scare children :)

I don’t see anything wrong..what are you talking about? If you’re freaking out because you have .1 less, then boy, you have a problem.

I think you’re fine with getting Bs your junior year in a more competitive school. Your GPA didn’t drop much either from a less competitive school to a more competitive one (although I don’t know the amount of discrepancy in scale). You should be fine.

Are you kidding? They scare adults, too! ;)
