How selective are Case scholarships?

Just curious about the Michelson-Morley Scholarship, University Scholarship, etc.

Congrats to those who got one!

I remember the website saying that 3/4 of the incoming class receive FA or merit aid

Are there different tiers in scholarships?

It looks like it-- you’ll notice the range of University Scholarships (which seems to be just merit money (and req’d no addtl application) range about 20-30k/yr.

So 30K is probably the highest no additional app scholarship?

Mine was 30.5k (which is about half of COA), and it’s the highest that’s been seen around, yes. But who knows?

I am so glad that I was accepted. I was able to see that I qualify for 13,500 a semester in a university grant. I am assuming that this is based on the financial profile and that I didn’t receive any actual merit scholarship money. I was really hoping to get something more. My act is a 30 and I have a 4.3 gpa. Really good ecs and great recs.

Hmm…my merit aid was actually ~4x the grant! Puzzling…

Did anyone have work study on their statement? Or does that get packaged later with the loans?

I did! It wasn’t included in yours?

No, I guess that means they didn’t give him any. I wonder how hard it is to get a regular job on campus. I suppose we could beg for it :)

I found my work-study with the rest of my FA pkg, which included a healthy dose of loans (sub, unsub, perkins, and PLUS).

Anyone apply for the department scholarships? I wrote an essay for a specific engineering scholarship. I’m just wondering when those awards come out and if notification comes in an email. I know it’s a looong shot…just hoping.
Also for PP, my work study was included in financial info.

Alright, I’m looking over the RPI website and starting to freak myself out, are grants renewable or not? I think they are need based so now I’m not sure if you are guaranteed the same amount every year.

I know, right, every kind of loan under the sun, but not too bad really

Sorry, put wrong school name in!

Guys, are scholarships only for US citizens?

You’ll find out by April 1st, according to their website:

Has anyone been notified about the scholarships you have to apply for yet?

Nope. We’ll find out within 2 weeks. But they are EXTREMELY selective, with 1 or 2 students receiving each award.

I called the office, and they said that all of the award winners had already been notified…? Has anyone heard? She also suggested that it may have been with the acceptance package.
