How selective are Emerson Admissions?

3.3 gpa
high school junior
No EC's
attends private school

Planning on joining a bunch of clubs this year, and working on some EC's.

Thanks!

emerson has gotten harder and harder each year, since more people are realizing that it's perfect for a pragmatic education in communications, with almost every graduate getting jobs right after graduation. they usually want someone that has expressed a deep love for communication and the arts, either via ec's or other routes(internships, performances, etc.) so in your case, i don't think joining a bunch of clubs and ec's now quite help you, since competitive schools like emerson tend to see through junior/senior stacking of resumes, unless you have a good reason to start now.

so the questions become:
1)have you done anything before now?
2)why start now with ec's and clubs?
3)what about communication and the arts do you seek? (emerson's really one of the schools where you can't really be undecided)

I think Im going to major in English anywhere I go.

So, the writing, literature & publishing program. Thats what really grabbed my interest in Emerson.

1) was in drama club last year sorta
2) you have to start sometime. lol Im a very shy person...
3) the writing, literature & publishing program

took a theatre arts class last year, and taking contemporary media this year.

The other schools Im looking at, (in this order)
1. Reed
2. Colby
3. Whitman

Thanks :)

I'm applying to the Writ, Lit, & Pub program this November(EA...yipp!)
I have a 3.4ish GPA, 30 ACT, and super-involved in all sorts of drama, speech, choir, newspaper editor...etc etc art ECs etc... took college-level classes for writing, been published... all that. My cousin graduated from there and is a sort well-known writer(she's listed in their notable alums)

And i'm strongly doubting getting in... So...uh, with no ECs...i'm not sure how well a chance you stand. Especially with your GPA(their average is about a 3.5). Trying to majorly rock your ACT(Or SAT) is as much as i can suggest.

[Sorry if that's harsh. Obviously i have no idea, and am a major pessimist...just what i've heard.]
