I am a sophomore currently. I got 3.8 both semesters freshmen year. Got a 4.17 last semester, and currently have a 3.7 now. Took a few honors classes last year, and taking a few this year as well as an AP, just wondering if i am on track to getting into some UC schools. UCSB, UCSD, Berkeley, UC Davis are all schools im interested in.
.
GPA is important but so are test scores, EC’s with leadership and essays. The UC’s also calculate your GPA using only 10-11th grades and here is the calculator: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Here are the average UC GPA and SAT/ACT test scores you want to strive for:
UCSB:: UC GPA-4.03 SAT-1925 ACT-29
UCB:: UC GPA-4.18 SAT-2071 ACT-31
UCSD:: UC GPA-4.13 SAT-2018 ACT-30
UCD:: UC GPA-4.07 SAT-1924 ACT-28
UCI:: UC GPA-4.05 SAT-1867 ACT-27
UCLA:: UC GPA-4.17 SAT-2067 ACT-30
To be competitive, you want to be at or above the average and since these Stats are from last year, they may be even a little higher. You are on the right track and keep up the good work.
It is about middle of the road. UCB, UCLA, UCSD are more selective. UCD, UCI and UCSB are pretty similar, with average GPA of 4.0+ and SAT of 1900+. UCR, UCSC, and UCM are less selective.

That link will tell what it takes to get into each UC school.
With a 3.7 - 3.8, you’ll need stand-out ECs and 2000 SAT, to be a serious contender in most majors.
