For those of you who read all of this thank you! Can you chance me at any of these?

NYU, BU, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Caltech, Amherst, UofI, University of Chicago, Northwestern, Stanford, BC, Harvard (should I even apply?), Berkeley (out of state), Northeastern

I haven't taken the SAT, but my predicted scores are 680 CR and 800 Math. I plan to just keep my ACT since it is pretty high.

What would be my shot at ED Brown (I'm not a minority) .. or should I just wait for regular decision? I've heard ED is the shot for "alums, minorities and political families" but maybe that's just a myth.

I forgot to add that I won my sectional at math this year :) If that means anything. Individual state qualifier again :).
also forgot bronze presidential service award (along with 1 credit for it at my school).

Not too slective, I got in ED this year with 1670, 2.8 uw. I think they really liked my essay about the death of my hamster, Hugo, when I was 7. ;-)

haha i think you'll have a great application put together next year. Don't be too surprised if you get into 1 or more of your ultra-competitive schools.

In addition, you're chances of getting into Harvard decrease significantly when you decide not to apply so if your parents don't mind covering the tab, why not go for it? Don't bother with SAT reasoning, you're ACT is very strong.

^bump. What are my chances at Cornell/Brown? What can I work on?

I have to take one more SAT II for the upper ivies ... do I take about a 650 on Latin to show "roundedness" or ace the physics with an 800 (hopefully .. I think I can do it with some prep!)?

Eh.. If you're getting 1480 m/v, how is your school GPA so high? But you have a good chance at all those schools besides maybe Harvard and Stanford

thanks padfoot. I will go with the physics.

And in response to bay-area, I put most of my effort into my weaker subjects (English/History), and then I sort of just relax in my Math/Science classes. I also catered my schedule to my strengths (hence 2 AP Math classes this year).

1480 M+Cr is pretty good. When colleges like Brown/Harvard/etc. say they are concerned when they see low test scores and high GPAs, they are talking about scores below the 90th percentile.

Anyways, OP I think your scores are more than good for all of the schools you are wishing to apply to. What is going to help you most is, judging from your chill response to bay-area's post, you seem like a normal high school kid that's genuinely interested in most of the activities he or she participates in. I'm predicting you'll get great recommendations, so with those, good test scores, and good ECs all you need to consider thinking about now is what you will write about in your essays.

i highly suggest you don't take the SATs... you dont need to with an ACT of 34, you will need to take SATII's but keep in mind that if you happen to not do so well on your SAts but a school (i.e. stanford and dartmouth) require SATIIs the school would see your SAT scores no matter what. With ACTs you can pick and choose the scores you send

You don't need to worry about being overoptimistic at all - Harvard is not that significant a reach for you. You're in the top 1% of your class with great test scores and EC's. You stand up well anywhere.

Brown, like its peer institutions, is highly selective. Students must have top scores (> or = 2100) and top grades, as well as strong ECs. You're fine, so don't worry.

Newjack88 ... thanks for your response, that makes me feel a lot better. I've actually thought about the essay a bit, but only the Common-App. one, because I haven't actually started the process.
Right now, I think I will write about a time when I was lifeguarding. There was a handicapped man that was around 30 years old that I saved from drowning. It was a shocking experience, but definitely a rewarding one. I think that would fit well into the "state an experience that has influenced you" essay. By the way, feel free to post if you want to comment on this topic or maybe want to read it when I'm finished (which may be a while ... I'm just a junior!).
thanks to everyone for being so supportive, that makes me feel a lot happier .. and I'll definitely stick with ACT/SATII's unless I get National Merit.
