From my understanding the admission into transferring for chemical engineering is very selective. However I do not know any information related to applying as a freshman. I understand it is in the college of LAS. Does that make it easier to get it?

Though the Chemical & Biomecular Engineering major is officially in LAS, the department is considered part of the of the engineering college for most purposes including admission and its middle 50% range is close to that for the engineering college as a whole. Last year’s middle 50% range for the engineering college was top 9% to top 2% class rank and 31-34 ACT.

Interesting, well I have goals set on bio engineering. Sorry to bug you again drusba but, does it have easier admission than other engineering majors? And also, because it is bioengineering and not mechanical engineering, is it fine if my math ACT score is not the highest out of all the subscores?

Also for some research backing up my question, I have found this quote which does not include bio engineering:

"Admission is selective for the Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical, and Computer Science majors "

I found it on this page if you’re curious

[U of I Admissions: Junior Transfer Grade Point Average (GPA) Guidelines](Page Not Found, Illinois Undergraduate Admissions)

thanks!

^^^^bump 10

Bio-Engineering is the hardest to get into. After that, ECE and Aero E. are the next hardest. After that, everything is about equal. Technically Chem. E isn’t in the college of engineering, but in LAS, but admissions for it are basically the same difficulty level as any other type of engineering. Don’t sweat it, you’ll be fine.
