How selective is LAH?

Maybe I'm jumping the gun a little, but I just got my SAT scores and I was curious to know, as I can't seem to find any LAH student stats on the UT website. My scores were not nearly as high as I had hoped, and I feel sort of pathetically stupid... anyway, help is appreciated. Either way, for now I'm definitely planning on retaking.

Well, it’s an Honors program, so it’s selective, but it’s also the largest Honors program at UT, so comparatively, it’s the least selective. I got in with an SAT score between 2000 and 2100. I was honestly somewhat surprised, but there ya go. It’s not an out-of-reach goal. If you write a lot, that’s a plus. Because someone once told me it was my essay that got me in. Though I’m not supposed to know that. So Shhh… Don’t post that on the internet anywhere. Wait…crap!

Danke schön…

not selective at all

Haha. We have a dissenting opinion. Perhaps that’s based on the fact that I managed to get in, in which case he/she probably has a good point.

I think that every year more freshmen start out in to Plan II than in LAH so I do not see how LAH could be the largest honors program at UT. Not a lot more - like 180 to 200 in Plan II and - last fall there were 130 in LAH I think - right?

Smoothieman, why do you think LAH is the biggest? Do you think there are more kids in LAH than Plan II because more people drop out of Plan II?

Very few people drop Plan II. I believe 175 or more of the 180 end up graduating from UT with Plan II Honors.

LAH is bigger because of Departmental Honors, which are considered LAH. Freshman LAH is smaller than Plan II.
