How selective is Wesleyan with Intl' students?

Hello.

I was thinking of applying to Wesleyan because I heard that academically talking it is amazing! and I also heard they have a diverse hispanic community on campus, which looks good to me since I'm from El Salvador.

However, I am an international student seeking aid, and their website says that from all the international applicants that apply, only a very selective few get aid. I need big financial aid. More than $50k.

I don't know if Wesleyan accepts or has accepted students from my same financial category. If I am really in a bad position, then I might as well stop thinking of Wesleyan, although I would like to attend it since its really really good academically.

The odds of getting into Wesleyan as an international with need are indeed daunting, but, probably not much more daunting than the odds of getting into Yale or Harvard are for ordinary Americans. That doesn’t seem to stop people from applying. I would say, unless the application fees are a genuine problem (and, if you can’t get them waived) then, apply anyway. I’m not aware that Wesleyan gets a lot of applications from El Salvador, so it may even be a hook. You never know and if you DO get in, 100% of your need will be met.
