how selective?

Okay, I`ve seen a few threads about the summer programs offered at chicago.
I applied right before the deadline for the RIBS program and got accepted.

I just wanted to know how selective this program is. I understand that attending the program won`t guarantee acceptance..but I was just wondering if people actually get rejected from these programs.

Oh and if anyone is going to the summer program, PM me!

This is what they told us last summer. They indicated that relatively few students get rejected. However, they also said the pool of applicants was definitely self selecting.....that you've got to be really dedicated to apply for a summer program where you spend 8 hours or more a day in the lab!

Be prepared to work a lot. Also be prepared to go tointeresting places with the RAs on weekday evenings. If it's like last year, they will put you up in Max P.

What exactly is the RIBS program?

The test is not to see if one is accepted; it is to see if one can make it through all nine weeks. Good luck.

RIBS stands for Research in the Biological Sciences. It is a summer program at the U. of C. for high school students. Looks tempting, in my opinion.
