I was using one of those really crappy erasers, and when I tried to erase something it smeared. I used another eraser to get most of the smear off but some remained. Will I get marked off on these ?s even though I marked the correct answer really dark?

i have the same problem and i'm hoping my scores aren't affected by my stupid eraser. if my scores are way off my projections then i'm prob gonna get it hand scored

If that is true, how do you apply for the hand scoring thing?

I hope that is not true... I asked my proctor when that happened and she said that it was fine (for me anyways) and proctor looked like she had just come out of college so I assumed she knew what she was talking about

If the SAT scorers use machines similar to the ones in high school, then stray/mostly erased marks really don't affect scoring.
