how serious are they about...

getting a D or F after you have been accepted. what if i get a D in a class that i am taking at community college? and is not needed to fulfill the UC credits...would they rescind my admission?

you have to contact them, i think. not sure how it works for a class at a community college, but yeah.

<a href="http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/NewBruins/Changes_Freshmen.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/NewBruins/Changes_Freshmen.htm</a></p>

If you stated to them that you are taking that community college class on your UC application, that class is like any other class you take at high school. So you have to report it, and it affects you like a high school class does.

dyip:

Are you positive that CC courses are treated the same way? I attempted to contact UCLA admissions a few weeks ago but I guess they were really busy at the time and did not get through. However, I did get through to UCSD's admissions (this is assuming that the provisional admissions contract for both schools is about the same). They told me that the provisional contract should not coincide with CC courses and should not be grounds for rescinding of admission. I'm not sure what to believe though...

Well I assume so. When they calculate your UC GPA for admission they use CC courses and give you the extra grade point (like an AP class). If CC courses don't count for this contract, but AP classes do, isn't it unfair for AP students? Since CC courses and AP classes are considered the same difficulty by UCLA admissions. Therefore, someone who takes 5 CC classes and 1 AP class can get 5 Cs and 1 B and still meet the requirements. However, a person who takes 5 AP classes and 1 CC class must get 5 Bs and 1 C. How is that fair? For example, I am taking 3 CC courses right now, and 3 HS classes. You need to submit your CC and HS grades so I assume they are treated equally.

I had no idea they used your CC courses in calculating your UC gpa? Since CC courses don't count for HS credit unlike AP classes and are not A-G courses, I thought that they were entirely seperate from the process. Guess I'll do some more digging.

Side note: Is it possible to take just one high school class and all community college courses and still have enough credits to graduate? My school offers only two community college courses so I've never thought about it.

Yes, but you probably have to petition the school or school district to let you.

Well I doubt it's a separate process because you include the classes you take at the community college (if you're a freshman admit) on your UC application like a high school class.

do they calculate it into the gpa? if the class im concerned about isnt crucial to my UC credits b/c i already passed this course, would it be serious if i get say a D?

If i got D's in the past can I take them at a CC to bring my gpa up?

devitt: Maybe you should just give UCLA a call :)
