How seriously do colleges look at previous schools/colleges transcripts when transferring?

Hey Everyone! So I am currently al the local Jr. College, and planning to transfer out next fall. I have been starting to look at schools. And when you apply, one has to submit all previous college transcripts. I went to a big university for a semester, and I didn't do well. I left with a 1.5 GPA which is not like me, I'm usually an A student. So I went back to the JC and I've been at the JC doing really well. I've brought my GPA up to 3.316. So my question is. Will schools look at previous transcripts seriously? I know they ask you to submit all previous transcripts, and I don't want to be dishonest by not submitting them. But I don't want to look bad, and ruin my GPA and chance of getting into a school. Thanks

How many semesters have you been at the JC? If its been a while since the poor grades, most schools will give more weight to your current transcript, especially since you are doing well. They won’t ignore your past transcripts, but they’ll make their decision primarily based on your current transcript and the rest of your application.

Since I lived it, I agree with guineagirl.

like guineagirl said, colleges will weigh your recent successes. Many have travelled your route (doing poorly at 4y college, then cc, then back to the 4y college). But you can’t erase the earlier hiccups and they will be a part of your overall GPA – no way to bury that, unfortunately.
