So right now I'm currently standing at a 98.93% in Chinese. I got a 103% on my quiz, except that it wasn't technically 103%. I wrote this especially hard part in characters, so the teacher gave me three points that I could put into any assignment--yes, including the final exam. Weird, I know. So, here are the assignment categories, weighting, and my grades in them:
Classwork (10) 99.46%
Performance Based Assessment (30) 98.5%
Quiz (20) 99.25%
Test (25) 99%
Final Exam (15) N/A; haven't taken the final yet.

So I was thinking I should put it in my PBA grade because that's the highest weighted category, but we've only had two PBA grades and there will be more before the final exam. So maybe I shouldn't, because I may pull my grade up. Then again there's the final exam, but I think I have a pretty good shot at getting a 100.

And I have no idea if she would put in a grade >100%.

Thoughts?

Are you sure she means 3% on any assignment? Many of my teachers have awarded discrete points as a means of “weighting” assignments, e.g. in a class with 1,000 possible points, 900 points would be A, 800 points would be B, etc., and each quiz might be worth 20 points, the final worth 200, each midterm worth 100, etc. In that case, 3 points on the final is worth just as much as 3 points on a quiz.

Every single assignment I’ve done has a weight of 1.00.

You have a 98.93% in the class. Does it actually matter at all?

Yeah. >=99.5% = 100% on the transcript. I did the math and just giving the 3 points to the PBA grade I have now would boost my average to 99.42%

I feel like the points should go in the Performance-Based Assessment category because you have the lowest grade there and a grade over 100% might just be counted as 100%. Not sure, though.

Yeah, I got another 97 on a PBA today (my speaking partner freaked out during the presentation and didn’t know what to say) so I just went ahead and put the 3 pts into that PBA, making it a 100. I think my PBA grade is a 99% now.

Average increased to 99.4%. Now I only need .1% to get a 100 in the class. Hopefully I’ll get a 100 on the Chinese Final. Wh00pwh00p
