I am a junior unfortunately and have only one summer left to truly focus on one of the tests. This means extreme dedications to learning and understanding the test through a huge volume of practice tests. I am trying to get around a 2100 on sat/act equivalent. Some say the ACT is easier, others say they scored higher on the SAT. How do I decide which to focus on? I score around 1700 on the SAT atm and haven't taken the ACT.

If I choose the SAT, I will have to devote a lot of my time in learning 500-700 vocab from Direct Hits and other sources as well so I truly need to choose (I hear the ACT does not require any previous knowledge of high level vocab words).

Take a practice test for the ACT. If you do well on the Science section, you should focus on it. If you don’t, just work on the SAT.

Will do, I am most likely going to take it the next holiday that my school is closed on to take the ACT. Any other advice from anyone else?

Can anyone else give anymore advices?

The previous post was correct – you need to take both under realistic conditions and compare. ACT has a chart at

[The ACT® | Estimated Relationship between ACT Composite Score and SAT CR+M+W Score | ACT](http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/estimate.html)

it estimates 1700 is a 25 on ACT.

I tutor both, and both have drawbacks. I will say that I find the process of getting into the 30’s on math and English and the mid-high 20’s for reading and science to be within the range of most of my students who put in the effort.

To me, the ACT is far easier (35 vs. 2040) because I suck at critical reading. The reading section is much more straightforward, and so are all of the other sections. The only drawback (in my mind, at least) to the ACT is the fact that it also has a fourth section- science. Even if you’re not a good science student though, don’t worry because it’s more about testing your ability to analyze graphs and such than your actual scientific knowledge.

I’d recommend you take a practice test or two for each and see which one you do better on. I find the ACT easier, but most of my friends find the SAT easier. So I really think it depends on the person.
