How Should I Handle This?

I emailed a surgeon at UPenn a few days ago seeking a shadowing opportunity for my senior project - he responded yesterday saying that he would be happy to have me and gave me 2 weeks within my project window when he's available for shadows and let me choose which week I want to come in. He also said "I've cc'd _________ on this email for her help in getting you the necessary paperwork to get set up." And then he goes on to address her in the email, asking her to get me started on the necessary paperwork for the week that we agreed on.

However, on the email, there is no active cc. So I think he may have forgotten to actually cc her on it or it didn't go through.

How should I bring this to his attention?

Should I wait a few weeks since my shadowing isn't until May and then email him to confirm that I'm scheduled to shadow?

Should I contact the woman he forgot to cc directly?

Help me decide what to do.

Thanks!

bump?

If you are certain you know the woman he was intending to CC you can email her directly by forwarding the email with his instructions and mention that it looks like he forgot to CC her or you could respond and after the initial pleasantries say “I noticed in your previous email that you mentioned CCing so and so but I do not see her name on the email, did you forget to include her email address?” and then the closing pleasantries.

I would definitely not wait, you never know how long paperwork takes to process.

Maybe he bcc’d her because he wanted to make sure you didn’t bother her.

I forwarded his email to her just in case. Do you think that will play against me as me bothering her?

I’m so nervous because I’ve spoken to so many doctors and he’s one that finally agreed to let me shadow him and I’m scared of messing something up.
