How should I prepare for med school?

I'm in college at Akron
and I was curious what classes would be good to take to prepare for med school.
i hope to become a successful psychiatrist.
I planned on majoring in pyschology too, since it's simliar to psychiatry...
but if there's a better major out there to help me prepare more or that gives me more career oppurtunity...let me know.

I appreciate all the help i get.
I just need pointed in a better, more stable direction.

Does your school have a neuroscience major? I am also interested in practicing psychiatry and decided to major in neuroscience over psychology because it focused more on the biological basis of mental health conditions, more science and less psychoanalytical theory. As the above post states, there is no ideal premed major though, just consider what would make you happiest and increases your chances for success. PM if you want to chat more.
