How should I proceed with my educational plan? - I'm a biology major student from LA

Hi!
I would really appreciate any advice, here is my background:
I came to the U.S as an international student 4 years ago and started school at Santa Monica community college which has a high transfer rate. I moved to the U.S for love and ended up getting married.
I’ve always found biology, anatomy and medicine to be fascinating so I chose to major in Biology.
I’m originally from Israel and got accepted to study Biology in Tel Aviv University, before I decided to move.

When I started at the C.C, I realized that in order to transfer to a 4-year school, I have to take A LOT of prerequisites on top of G.E classes if I want to major in Biology. I did really well until my last two semesters.
For various reasons, my last chemistry and math classes completely ruined my GPA. I applied to a few UC school hoping to major in Biology but got rejected by all of them. I was offered to study at UC Riverside but figured it would make more sense to wait and try again later, first because I thought I could do better and also because if I went to UCR I would have had to pay International student fees (not a resident yet).

I feel pretty lost and don’t know what my game plan should be. Some people told me that “it doesn’t matter what you do your bachelors degree in”, but I do want to get into the medical field and don’t want to waste time and money studying something completely irrelevant.
On the other hand, I feel like I AM wasting my time not studying really want to continue my education. I can’t help but wonder if I should apply again with an easier major so I can finish my bachelor degree and move on or try again with the same major.
I am thinking about going to a Physician’s assistant school (a position that doesn’t exist in Israel but I think would be a great fit for me).
Any help would be appreciated!!
