How Should I Study for the ACT? Never Taken it Yet

I took the SAT in March and got a 2070 out of 2400 (740 math, 670 writing, 660 critical reading) and am hoping I did a lot better this time (took my 2nd SAT today). Usually I can get close to 800 in math, and writing the curve was bad, and my essay was bad (got 8 out of 12), but I only got 3 multiple choice (out of 45) wrong.

Anyway...

How should I prepare for the ACT? I've taken 2 practice tests, and the Science section was hard to do in time, and some questions are hard too. Also, the reading is much easier than SAT reading, but the timing is pretty hard for me (I didn't time myself and got almost every question right). Same goes for writing (time sucks, but the questions aren't terrible, although I miss a few). I bought the "Real ACT" book also (those weren't the tests I did though; I got the tests from a tutor).

What should I do? I've never taken an actual ACT yet but plan to on June for practice (although I'm hoping at least for a 30 or 31), and then I hope to do really well (33+) in September.

Anyone???
Bump…

The Real ACT Prep Book is actually the way to go.

the practice exams are good to familiarize yourself with the material and layout. definitly time urself taking those tests, it will help you develop a strategy for answering all the q’s in the allocated time.

its all about strategy, you only get 35 mins for the reading and science, most students in the science part will try to interpretthe data in the charts and graphs or w/e by simply skipping to the questions while looking over the diagrams carefully. you just need to practice interpreting data carefully for the science section so you can have more time in figuring out what preceeds.

for the reading, its not all about memorization, but where certain elements in the story are, so if u have to look back into the reading, u can save urself some time if u read it through once and get a good idea on what the story is about. then if u refer back to the reading, u should no where certain elements are which will save u some time.

the math is general ez in my opinion, if u taken geometry, algebra, on any trig math like up to precalculus, you should do gr8.

the english is all about grammar and comprehension, sometimes it’ll ask you where to put things or add things, or even remove things. learn to adapt and pace urself by concentrating in the story itself so that u get a good idea like the reading section itself.

Thanks.

Any more advice?

Also, the May results were reported a little while ago for the SAT. My breakdown was:

800 math
770 writing
660 critical reading

I used Cracking the ACT by The Princeton Review to review and it really helped me to get ready. I scored a 30 which is higher than I was expecting.

how long should you study?
