so that they will write charismatic college recommendations?

charismatically?

You should treat them how a student should treat their teachers, with respect.

I agree with olive. Just treat teachers with respect and don't have attitude with them and chances are you'll connect with one or a couple. Or, if you aren't necessarily close to any teacher, I'm sure none would have a problem writing you a recommendation if you just are a good kid/student.

Ask questions, seem interested, debate. Personally I dont believe in ass-kissing but respect is a good thing to give and recieve. :)

And write them a thank you note afterwards. They like that.

I will add one thing. If you find that a teacher "just" doesn't like you, and I mean REALLY doesn't like you - it's obvious, then you don't have to reciprocate the respect.

Participate in class? It's fine to be wrong sometimes, but don't always give wrong answers...otherwise it just makes you look stupid.

Also, maybe not suck up, but def. be nice. Say hello, goodbye, please, thank you, etc...

Ass kiss.... or at least brown nose in a diplomatic way... don't really come off as someone trying to get at something, just be very nice and helpful. I had two teachers I had reccomendations from, my physics teacher and my German Teacher. My physics teacher I decided to volunteer for a community service she ran... which I found out from a conversation with an admissions rep the community service was included in great detail. My german teacher I was simply nice to all the time, and participated more than anyone else in class... and actually tried to learn the language.

As long as you didnt act like a dick in class, or as long as you showed that you participated a lot, cared about the teachers class, and actually put effort and gave it your all... then your fine for that class. The brown nosing/ass kissing isnt neccesary, but as mentioned above it can be an added plus. :)

A cockslap to the face should put them in order.

Respect them, if they deserve it. Some teachers are so bad they don't deserve respect, and those are not the ones from which you should solicit recommendations. Same is true if the teacher has a vendetta against you.

what kind of question is this? obviously u treat them good. did u like contemplate this its kind of simple. woww. if this is complicated for u i cant imagine ur grades.

Find there buttons and push them as much as possible. Every teacher that I have had who loves me (would take a bullet for me) I have been able to figure out their exact likes/dislikes, etc.. Do they like humor, lots of effort. You just gotta find what their tick is and use it to your advantage. That and show some interest in the material and you'll find who you need to write great recs.

High School is a game, play it.

Yeah--get a good grade in their class, make sure they know about all the activities you do outside of school, and act interested in their subject.

Usually if you're going to ask a teacher for a recommendation, it should be one you actually respect and a class you enjoy..

if they dont mind, and you finish the work before everyone else does, go to the desk and start a conversation with them. sometimes my english teacher would stop giving class because he was talking with me. he simply forgot about it and then the bell rang :D
