how should i write my jhu essay?

I have had a look at all the examples on the website
and it seems hardly any of them are specific to JHU
and don’t really seem to asnwer to the prompt (why jhu?)
and they seem to be written more in the style of common app essays

so i was wondering whether I should stick to what I was going to write before (my passion for the subject , why jhu)
or change the style to fit with the examples provided by jhu themselves?

thanks!

From what I remember from applying, there were two supplements. One was “Why JHU?” and the other was something like, “Tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t know about you from your application.”

Regardless, don’t change the style to match what other people have done. Be yourself!

Regardless of whatever style u chose to write your essay, just make sure u actually address the essay prompt. Make sure the essay says something about u and isn’t just a generic “motherhood” statement.

@OnMyWay2013 it seems there is only one prompt now :frowning: but thank you!! it would be great to have a look at some examples to see what others have done, but they are incredibly difficult to find. :frowning:

@GMTplus7 thank you, i’ll keep that in mind!

I think there are 1-2 examples of “Why JHU?” essays in every class. The examples themselves aren’t actually very helpful, IMO, since everyone’s life and writing style are unique. I think the more important thing is to look at the comments and see what kind of traits admissions officers admire and highlight.

thank yuo!!
