how should one prepare for the interview?

my interview is in january, and i was wondering how people have prepared for the interview. what sort of questions are asked? was it formal? casual? did you bring your resumes and such? should you research your interviewer's background? what kinds of questions did you ask ur interviewer?

i have a cousin that graduated from harvard this year so i do plan on calling her for advice, but i'd like to get some feedback now if possible.

thanks

I didn't prepare at all, really. My interview process was kind of drawn out, due to unusual circumstances, so I didn't have the normal build up or anything.

Different interviewers interview in different ways. Just relax, and be yourself.

I never had a resume, so I obviously didn't bring one. I did give my interviewer a copy of my application that I had with me in my backpack (my interview was at my school) because he seemed interested in reading my essays.

When I had my interview, the alumna asked every question that I would expect in an interview...i.e. why do I want to go, what do I intend on doing, how do I spend my time outside of school...

Funny thing is, she never asked me once about my high school academics. My grades never came up and my courses didn't really either. I assume she could gather all that from a transcript.

For most of my interview, I did the talking. She would introduce a subject, and I would elaborate. At the end, she asked if I had any questions, which I did. No preparation though...just be calm and be yourself. All interviewers are different.

My inyerview was really laid back. I was in a coffe shop and it just seemed like she was interested in getting to know me. Just relax and don;t feel like you are there to impress anyone.

thanks a lot guys. this really helps, and somewhat puts my mind to ease.
