I've been wondering just how significant SAT Scores are in the overall admissions process for UCLA. Do they outwiegh any specific categories or are they just another factor that has about as much importance as GPA and EC's?

I'd say they're less important than GPA and course difficulty, but more important than EC's

I got in with a 1960.... so not as important as you think.

Theyre very important for something youll only take a few times, but they arent the end of the world

Order of importance:[ol]
[]UC GPA, weighted GPA
[]High school courses, class rank
[]SAT I scores, SAT II scores, AP scores
[]Personal statement
[li]Extra-curriculars, special circumstances[/li][/ol]

wait. robotfood.. are you currently at UCLA? didn't the new sat scoring system start with this year's senior class?

^^he's already admitted this year (engineering)

Flopsy, I don't think your order is correct. My friend is taking an education class this semester with the former chancellor here, and they go over all sorts of things. As far as admissions goes, UCLA focuses more on SAT scores than you seem to indicate. UCLA has three readers each convering different aspects of the application, and they give points based on different criteria, whereas at Berkeley, two readers (one primary and one secondary) read and decide.

Wait, UCs don't even see your class rank.

They do. (10 characters)

Do you mean the class rank with regards to ELC? Because they don't get any report from the school.

Is it not self reported? In addition, is the ELC not an idication?

Class rank isn't self reported. The only way I can think off is that UC asks the school to send grades for the top 10% of students, in which they use to grant the top 4% students ELC.

I remember filling out a slot for class rank, but maybe it was for a different application. shrug

flopsy, when u say rank do u mean rank based on uc gpa or school rank?

School rank.

haha i love it
i'm not top 10% of my class, (i'm ranked 10/75)
but somehow i'm ELC.
fantastic : )

but i heard uc does school rank based on elc...meaning uc gpa...

hmm, maybe!!
my UC gpa is pretty high (4.333)
but my rank is low, because i didn't do very well freshmen year.
so who knows? that might be the case.

ELC is based on uncapped UC GPA. I'm not sure where they heard that they see your school's class rank, as that'd be pretty dumb, because a great number of classes are not considered UC A-G classes.
