I have sent my application to Cornell, regular decision as an engineer, although it is, without a doubt, my #1 school. I am extremely nervous about whether or not I will get in, so I was wondering what others thought of my odds...
SAT: 2250 (1530 w/o writing)

APs: 5 in Stats and Calc, going to take Physics, Chem, and English this year
Class Rank: 1 out of 300ish
GPA: 4.30
Essay: so-so

Other stuff: I'm in lots of clubs and do a lot of volunteer work (I'm on the First Aid Squad) and my uncle is in the Hall Of Fame for Track at Cornell. I also have had a job for about 3 1/2 years now.

They're fatboy slim.

I'm saying accepted.

you're pretty much accepted unless your school has a terrible reputation

how come u didn't apply ED?

I was going to apply ED, but my parents talked me out of it for FA reasons :[

Yeah, you're almost certainly accepted.

Your chances are not slim, they're pretty good actually. I would say you have an 80% chance of getting in

Your stats are good, but stats arent as important to cornell as fit. I would say you have a decent shot, but by no way are you "in". I do not see anything in your app that would set you apart from a myriad of other engineering applicants. Poor essays/ECs seemed to be the kiss of death for ED applicants this year. If you do not believe me about the stats, look at the ED acceptances thread.

^ I agree . And brownman, I don't think anyone really has an 80% shot to an ivy. I think you have great stats and are in good standing. If the admissions com. is looking for great scores (and in eng. they usually do), then you should be fine.
