How smart are You??

i wanted to ask this question becasue it always befuddled me, since i'm from an urban school ar teachers are pretty bad so if you do good in Ap classes it make you look like your really smart.

I wanted to know how much percnet of a good subarban school is considered really smart like 4's and 5's mostly 5's on Ap's????????

and are these kids really smart like cabaple of doing this themselves or is it the teachers which really prep them to be that good??????????????

So i'm basically asking are the kids smart themselves or is it the teachers which are professional at their jobs and can make the kid that smart?????????????

Part of the trick is to limit punctuation use.

phd89

If one thinks of being "smart" as the sort of basic level of talent, then being smart is useful. Now, consider this equation:

Level of intelligence x work = success in school

As you can see, intelligence is only one part of the prerequisites for school success.

Well... I go to a suburban school, but it's private. Basically everyone gets 4 or 5s (pretty much 5s) on the AP tests because they wouldn't be able to handle the class if they weren't able to get a decent score. Some classes at my school review a lot for the AP tests (AP physics) others review nothing in class and expect the kids to do it on their own time (AP Bio)

It should be a combination of both.

AP grades don't define intelligence. Take me for example. I placed 4th in the nation for Constitution Team meaning that I know government, philosophy, history, and current events very well. I got a 2 on the AP government. Why? Well, I didn't study for one, didn't try on the exam because I was tired after taking all my IB exams, and it tests only a very general part of government--in Cteam we take one of 6 areas and specialize in it.

AP tells you how much you know about a narrow area of a very broad subject. Not to say that AP is pointless, but weighing them with intelligence, along with any test for that matter, is not a good idea.

er, sephiroth, no offense, but did you drop acid before the exam or something, i'm not seeing how you could possibly have failed

i wouldnt be so callous

Lol jimbob. I took the practice AP govt and got a 4 but when it came to the real thing I was too tired to even care. I had taken about 12 other exams before that one. I also drew nice pictures and wrote an essay to my grader to introduce myself lol...

At our school you usually have to take a test to even get INTO an AP class.

Yeah, same at my school.. they generally take the top 8-10 scorers on a test

I was forced to take AP Econ and Govt. =(

no good AP scores don't define intelligence..(and obviously grades don't either)..for APs u can kind of play the test rather than the subject and it's pretty easy to pass..

so then what does define how smart you are SAT's or SATII's?????????

AP tests are a joke.

i agree, the curves are nowhere near hard enough on AP exams. I wouldnt consider myself that smart and yet i have 7 5's and 2 4's
