I don’t mean this to sound snobby intellectual, but it seems like a fair question–I saw it on the Tulane page. Does Sewanee have a smart vibe to it? My daughter wants to be social and have fun, but she wants to be around smart, fun students. Does that make sense?
It makes sense, and she would have plenty of smart company there. My D (a freshman) has found the teaching to be uniformly excellent, the academics to be challenging, and her peers to be fun, engaging, smart and supportive. I hope your D will consider doing an overnight visit there, and attend some classes.
Sewanee is a good balance of smart and fun, with a “work hard, play hard” mentality. It has somewhat of an intellectual vibe that IMO stems from its being a true liberal arts college and the close relationship between students and professors.
