I will be a junior in the fall and I want to take the ACT in October, the 25th specifically. I'm not entirely concerned about the scores (I took the PLAN (scores out of 32) at my school in December and had a 25 in English, a 22 in reading, and two perfect scores in the science and math sections (32 each), with a 28 composite, and I took two ACT science section tests in class and got 35 (39/40) on both), but just in case I feel I need to take the test again, I want to do so in December. However, the registration deadline for the December test is November 7, the 21st if I include late-fee registration. I am going to take the ACT Plus Writing, and I do know that the writing scores are released later than the multiple-choice ones. Will the scores for the test still be released by the deadline so I can review them and determine whether I should retake the test?

Yes, they should be out by then. Likely 1-2 weeks prior.

Edit: My bad, thought the registration deadline was the 21st, didn’t realize it was late reg. You’ll get your scores before that, but certainly not the writing scores unless you’re tremendously lucky.

I’m worried about being able to see all of my scores by the deadline (whether late or regular). I’d rather not postpone my (possible) second test date, nor do I really want to move the October one to September, but I will if I have to. Would that be a better idea instead, given the scoring circumstances?

I took it October and December as a junior. I had the writing score just before the late registration deadline. If your willing to pay the late fee, go for it.

I’ll go ahead and do that if the scores are released in time. Thanks for the help!
