just as the title suggests. i know most CCC to UC transfers are juniors, but i have AP credit that CCC’s will accept for my gen ed requirements and my intended transfer major requires only 4 classes pre-transfer. if i can get these all (or most) done in a year or even sooner, do UC’s accept freshman/sophomore transfers? the UC website states that “for students hoping to transfer as a freshman or sophomore, different guidance applies” but i can’t find any more info on this “different guidance”. how doable is it? where can i learn more?
Yes you can transfer as a junior in one year but usually people have taken a couple of summer courses right out of high school so the UC has about 7-8 courses with grades to evaluate by end of fall when you apply.
Unless the campus has pages describing lower division transfer procedures, it is probably used only in rare cases for recruited athletes.
If you will have 60 semester units, then you can apply as a junior transfer. Note: count AP credit units by UC’s chart, and subject credit by the UC campus’ chart. But IGETC at your CC can use your CC’s AP credit policy as it may apply to IGETC.

it doesn’t matter what your CC accepts for AP credit. To qualify as a junior xfer to a UC the sum of your AP credit (according to UC) and your transferable classes must add up to 60 semester units.
For lower-division transfers go to the webpage at https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses-majors/majors/ and select “sophomore transfers” to find out what majors are eligible and at what campuses.
It’s most likely that you won’t be able to xfer to a UC until you qualify to do so as a junior, YMMV
