How soon can i Transfer to UC's

Hello, so for the fall semester i applied to 4 Uc's (UCLA,UCSD,UCI, UCSB) and i got rejected from all of them. But i think i still have a shot if i take some extra courses in community colleges and get some better EC's and apply for spring semester. Im very new to this and i really dont know much about how all of this CC transfer works soo can some1 like brief me on how it works and if i have a shot to transfer.
Right now im in India studying the IB programme, its similar to the AP courses, and im aiming for a 34 above in the programme which is like a 3.6+ GPA. My Ec's consist of numerous services in orphanages, AIDS hospitals, government schools etc.. I also played a little bit of football in my Highschool years and yea well i plan on adding more EC's on my free time while i study in CC. Anyways rite now i want to major in computer sciences and soo i think if i take some pre req courses like that of C+, Calc and Physics during my time in CC i should have enough creds to apply for the UC's (again i dont really know how all this works so im not sure). Also if i actually do get a 34 in IB most of my credits for these courses would be fullfilled. So rite now i want to know if i have actually have a shot to get to UC's within 1 sem of time, and what courses and how hard i need to work to actually make this happen.

Thank You,

Are you a california resident?

The UC’s do not accept spring transfers, and most of them don’t accept lower division transfers, meaning you are going to need 60 units to transfer. So, no you can’t transfer in one semester. And, like Hsandovaljr asked, we will need to know if you are going to CC in Cali, out of state, or if you’re an international applicant.

Since he’s talking about IB, he’s International applicant.

@pinkpig0086: I hope you know that you can enroll in the IB program stateside as well.

@TreDelta OP specifically said he is in India. So yea he is an international applicant.

… I’m well aware, it still doesn’t change the fact that mentioning IB ≠ international applicant. You guys are disregarding the possibility that he’s a California resident who just happens to be over in India at the moment for various coursework (which is probably why both Hsandovaljr and jdom24 asked).

I went to a high school that offered the IB programme, if I took it and posed a similar question, I’m automatically an international student? No. I’m not suggesting it’s a ruled-out possibility, you guys are just jumping the gun.

I concur with TreDelta. Just the other week I was on a campus tour with a prospective student who was currently doing IB in China, but was born and raised in San Francisco.

Yea sorry guys i am a california resident, and im just currently in India doing th IB programme.

[Welcome to ASSIST](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)

Select your local CC, UC you want to transfer to, and major. It will give you all the classes you should take, and you’ll see how long it will take.

As far as the IB, “Students who complete the IB diploma with a score of 30 or above will receive 30 quarter (20 semester) units toward their UC degree.”

[University of California - International Baccalaureate credits](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/ib-credits/index.html)

So, you’ll still need 40 semester units to transfer which is around a year of CC. You’ll also want to meet with a counselor and see how the IB credit will transfer to each UC you are applying to, in order to be on the safe side.

You might also want to check out the TAG program which will garantee you admission to schools like SD (until fall 2014), SB, Irvine if you have met the requirements.

[University of California - Transfer admission guarantee](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/transfer/admission-guarantee/index.html)

60 quarter units in one year is possible, especially if you take summer classes. But I don’t know if IB credits can be applied to TAG (many UCs don’t take AP credits for TAG, for example).
