hi everyone, I’ve been reading all these Tulane threads for about a month now but this is my first time using my account…all of your info has been so helpful! who has heard from South Florida and when did you submit/hear back? thanks!

Found out at 5:50 a.m. that D was accepted!! A very close second to the powerball win I was hoping for. Wanted to rush into her room and tell her, but I rushed in and told my husband instead. Before she left for school, I told her I had something to show her on my computer and she said, “I don’t have time. I have an in-class first thing.” I think she thought I was going to show her a youtube video (again). But I dragged her over and watched as she absorbed the information. A smile and warm glow came over her face. What a great way to start the day! May all who are waiting hear good news today!

Good story, Nachos! Of course if you had won Powerball, you could’ve bought Tulane!

Still waiting…but Gibson is down to 1 entry now + says the app is complete - instead of the crazy entries it showed earlier. Congrats to those who heard - all good news - I can only hope for the same. My son told me that the 1st person from his HS got in yesterday - maybe we’ll hear soon???

After much anticipation, I FINALLY received a “congratulations” message this morning! I could not be happier right now!!! Good luck to everyone still waiting!

That’s great, renul11. Excellent news.

This was posted on the Admissions Facebook page and tweeted out, just so everyone knows.

my “admissions status” box went blank but then i reloaded it and it was back to complete. does this actually mean it will change to congratulations and how long did it take to change if this happened to any of you

The same thing happened to me a few hours ago. Does this mean anything?

Unfortunately, no. There does not seem to be a definitive correlation between this behavior by Gibson and the appearance of a decision.

Just curious, how many here intend to attend Tulane if admitted or are awaiting other decisions.

Congrats renul11 - very happy for you and all the others who have heard…we are starting to lose hope…can’t figure it out - all of my son’s credentials are right where many of those who have been accepted are…or better. Are they inundated w/kids from the Northeast?? That is the only thing I can think of at this point.

@ Exlawyermom - DH and DD are flying down today to visit TU for the first time. TU has been my DD first choice for several months. There is always the possibility that TU and NOLA may not appeal to her but I doubt it. If she does like what she sees this weekend, she will be attending.

I will most likely be attending!

Good to hear Rydert and elizabeth314. Tulane is daughter’s first choice, right now only choice. She has not completed any other apps (and now doesn’t want to). We all loved Tulane, but it seems strange to apply to only one school. Not sure if she should keep options open.

I originally only applied to Tulane until my parents forced me to apply to the University of Colorado as a back up. However, I have no intentions of ever going there!! It’s way to close to home!

Son’s message went blank last night and we logged on to his acceptance this morning. I think when it goes blank it does seem to signify that they are changing the status.

momthebomb - based on what some others have said, it does seem to indicate an update to the entire system. Not as sure you can count on it being an update to any individual account, but it is very hard to tell what is right.

In any case, congrats!

exlawyermom - I think there is only a risk if affordability is an issue. If you are only waiting for merit aid news, then OK, there would still be time to apply to other schools if the amount she gets isn’t enough to make it affordable. If you are going to apply for need-based aid, then you wouldn’t find out about that until it would be too late. So I think it all comes down to money. If you can afford Tulane even if merit aid is zero and you are not eligible for need-based aid, then applying to other schools seems pointless unless she does some research and sees places she thinks might fit her just as well as Tulane. If you cannot afford Tulane without aid, then she better get to researching now!

Thanks FC. I had read somewhere on the forum that it meant it was changing his status so I kept logging in. You are probably right and the timing just worked for us. His stats were on the lower side of most posts…high B average and 2000 SAT’s. Is very excited!!

Still waiting with you Bloomy.

I’m trying not to lose hope though! Dec. 15 isn’t too far away now and we’ll know soon enough.
