How Strict are the Distribution Requirements?

Hey there. I'm a transfer student who just got admitted to Penn CAS. I really, really like it, but I have once concern. At Vassar, where I currently am, there was an essentially open curriculum, and I took a bunch of social sciences and humanities courses, but no math or science courses. I'm a bit worried because I'm not sure if I could fulfill the distribution requirements by the end of my sophomore year, at least not without taking five classes. Would it be possible to satisfy the distribution requirements while taking four classes? If you happen to know the answer, do transfers normally have to do 5 classes their sophomore year? Thanks to whoever replies. Go Quakers!

I transferred to Penn as after freshman year somewhere else two years ago. The Penn course is really lose (sector based, rather than mandatory certain classes). I had fulfilled what would be the equivalent of 3 sectors prior to transferring (unlike you I had taken only science courses at my last school as I was doing premed). By the end of sophomore year, I had finished all but one sector. As long as you look before you register, there really is no problem fulfilling the core. Especially if you are transferring in as a sophomore.
