How strict are the rules with dorm visitors during move-in?

Some friends have told me during the first week of move-in the residence halls aren't too strict with visitors staying in rooms to help friends and family get moved in, is this true? I figure the only rule would be to use the right bathroom (like the next floor up if the floor you're on is single gender).

I didn’t hear of such strictnesss… Where did you hear this?

(I stayed in Reid this summer, and the bathroom thing was the only issue)

i’ve never heard of anything like that. if the RA is cool about it, then they’re cool about it. probably not time dependent.

Well idk if different dorms are more or less strict with people having visitors stay overnight, I guess it would all depend on the RA like you guys said

it really does. the RA is the only person who could possibly do anything about it (besides your roommates i guess). if your floor agreed that the opposite sex is allowed around 24/7 (you’ll have a meeting setting up these rules, or [if your RA is bad] they’ll make that decision themselves), then its hard to prove that someone was even breaking the sleep over rules anyways. the only complication is showers, which i never managed to figure out proper.

is that meeting held after classes start?

maybe. i don’t remember. i wanna say its about a week or two after moving in, i’m not sure. you can ask your RA when the first floor meeting is when you move in.

haha… i have a great story.

one night (ps my floor was co-ed) two of my guy friends and I were coming back and this girl and her Bf (i’m assuming) were waiting at our floor… they asked if he could use our shower since he was not allowed to use the girl’s floor but was allowed to stay the night…

we gave him the hardest time… it was so funny.

that would be how you deal with the shower issue…
