<p>I am going to apply as a transfer to UCI as a Criminology major and I am taking pretty much every single pre-req (because in the year I'm here I'm getting an Associates in Psych).
My problem starts when I look at one major requirement in specific, Psych 1. I have credit at my community college for Psych 1 from AP credit, But the UCI AP book at the counseling office in my community college says that they give a score 3+ elective credit so it would not count as psych 1.</p>
<p>My problem is I have done it already obviously because of the AP and the community college recognizes that so I have credit from it so taking it here if I had to would be a huge waste in Time money and resources, (I'm already at 20 units in the spring) because I would get 0 units for taking it again, I'm going to call uci to see if they can work this out with me but what do you all think? and who should I call? I tried the Criminology department but they could not help.</p>

<p>I’m not sure if that was who I called. I originally called someone from the criminology dept. but they transferred me to the counselors I think. I’ll try to call on Monday or Tuesday</p>
If they can’t, get their name and a firm promise to get back to you with the answer. After the meeting, email the rep to thank them for their time in meeting with you and mention the question you raised as a gentle reminder. </p>
<p>And if I were you, should they give me an answer during the meeting I’d still send the thank-you email and mention the answer they gave (something along the lines of “I now understand that with regards to the Psych 1 requirement…”) so that if you’ve misunderstood they’ll get back to you with a correction.</p>

That’s really weird. When I met with the counselor she looked into her counselors book for ap credit by uc school. Then she told me that it was elective units (I assumed for any score 3+ because she had my scores in front of her.) But I did get a 5 and what that link says is they do give me Psych 7A (Which ICV calls psych 1) credit so I’ll have to ask about that.
is there anything I should ask?</p>
<p>I’m thinking about asking if they will look at the number of classes when they see that my 3.307 is only that low (by my standards low) because of 2 C’s one of which happened in a night class during a heavy senior year work load. and then about if i should put down ap credit in the application or to put the class credit I get from the school down.</p>

<p>That means you will still be eligible for admission consideration even if you do not have all of the major prereqs completed. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean you will be competitive for admission because if there are more applicants with completed prereqs than there is space to admit them, then applicants with missing prereqs might get screwed.</p>
<p>Ok, I spoke with a rep and It seems that the book my counselor had was old I do get Psych 1 credit which means I have all the recommended pre-reqs. And 3.3 is competitive for criminology plus I did it in a year so she says that looks good.</p>
