How strict is UCSD with TAG requirements?

I'm going to UCSD and I know that with TAG you must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA by the end of spring or else they revoke your admission. How strict are they? I currently have a 3.63 with 5 classes. Does anybody know what I would need to get to be safe? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

If you’re asking what GPA you need to get for this semester, that depends on how many credits you’ve completed, and how many you have now.

Assuming you’ve taken an equal number of credits every semester for all 4 semesters, a 3.12 GPA for this semester would average out to around a 3.5 cumulative… but again, this is guesswork, since you’ve not given us enough information. If you’re all A’s and B’s you shouldn’t have a problem.

How to calculate this sort of thing yourself:

(old GPA * credits completed) + (semester GPA * credits this semester) = total credits * target

Or, for your case:

GPA needed this semester >= ((3.5 * total credits) - (3.63 * credits completed)) / credits this semester

They are pretty strict with the requirements. If you don’t meet one or fail to meet one, they will rescind the TAG agreement. It won’t affect your normal application though.

@failure622 I currently have at least 3 solid A’s that I am aware of. One class I have no idea my grade, and one is an 89% B+. I know that no grades in any of my classes will dip below a B. It’s just that a couple of classes are flirting with the A/B line. I am also currently enrolled in 15 units with 52 units already completed. So in theory I could finish with almost all B’s and my UC cumulative would not drop below that 3.5?

@mermaker how does the TAG work independently from the application? I thought the contract said your offer of admission is revoked?
