How lenient is Pitt about the 24 overnights per semester rule? My friend lives in Tower C if that makes a difference. Looking for someone with personal experience. Thanks.

If the person staying over night isn’t a Pitt student, they might not be too strict simply because that security guard may not take the time to go through the paper logs and count how many guests you’ve had (though they sometimes do!). But if the visitor is a student, the computer keeps track of it for them so they are strict about it. But the 24 overnights are only week nights – Friday and Saturday nights don’t count.

Also, the overnight kicks in if the person is signed into the building at 2, so I know some people who stay up all night anyways will go around 1:45 and sign their guests out, go walk around for 30 minutes, and come back. I don’t know if that actually works, though.

Thanks so very much. Is there a source for that fact that Fridays and Saturdays don’t count towards that? I heard that as well, but I don’t know of a way to confirm it. Not saying that I’m doubting you :)

Just the visitation rules poster on my floor. But your friend can ask her RA.

OK. Thanks very much :)
