My move-in date is the 14th in the afternoon. Since it’s a 14 hour drive, we had orginally planned on leaving in the morning on the 13th, stoping by at a friend’s house along the way for a night. However, someting came up, and my dad will be busy on the 13th. Now, to get there in time, we will have to leave midnight on the 13th. No one in my family wants to do that, so now they are all trying to convince me that it’s ok to move-in on the 15th.

In the past how strictly have move-in times been enforced? Is the 15th even a move-in date?

The school has gone to great lengths to develop an orderly process for move in. In the past, when it was less organized and more open, it was quite chaotic. If everyone starts going outside the process, then a free-for-all is sure to ensue. There is a reason they have assigned times and I personally think it is best to stick to THEIR plan.

Try to make your scheduled move-in time if at all possible. If you can’t do that, be prepared to wait for others or have to unload you vehicle farther away from their residence hall. If that doesn’t work, you can always walk in the building, check into your room, and move your stuff in later in the evening after everything has calmed down.
