after discovering that vassar had the first undergrad cognitive science degree, i became very interested in the school and am now planning on applying, but i was curious about the strength of the program. obviously vassar is a fantastic school and i am sure it is a great program, but how does it stack up against other cogsci programs (i.e. rice)? also, does it have a big presence on campus//do a lot of students major in it?

anyone? (10ch)

Hello there! I’m not a CogSci major, although I am taking Intro to CogSci this semester, and I am enjoying it very much. I have heard that our professors are amazing, although I have no idea how they would compare to Rice’s (since I haven’t been there myself). I would advise you to directly contact professors in the department (Professor Long, Professor Livingston, Professor Andrews, and Professor Broude, among others) directly in order to learn more about it. Click their names in the link below to see their emails.

The above link also allows you to see courses offered in the department, the courses you have to take in order to major in CogSci, and lots of other useful information. Good luck!

Hello! I’m a CogSci major and the program is absolutely fantastic. All of the professors are incredible intelligent and great teachers, we have a lot of small seminars at the higher level, and the other majors are amazing. It really is a fantastic program, and would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in CogSci, since it really is a unique thing at the undergraduate level.

My son Is a jr. at Vassar and an English lit./Cog Sci Double major. He loves the Cog sci Dept. and was able to get two internships in Cog sci this summer at other universities.
