I wonder how much the universities will take in consideration of interviews of initialview. Having an initialview will help me more likely to be admitted by the undergraduate college?
Thanks for helping.
It definitely varies from university to university. Some schools do not have time to look at something like that. For example, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign won’t even accept senior grades if you want them to be looked at simply because it would take too much time, so I am certain that they wouldn’t have time to watch an interview. I don’t think there is a good way to answer this question for all universities.
Google the common data set for each college you are interested in and the information will be there.
I googled “initialview” It appears to be a for-profit advisory service for job seekers and college/univ applicants.
Given the tens of thousands of students who are interviewed and admitted without a professional interview advising service – I think it’d be money better spent elsewhere. But that’s my budget. Don’t know about yours. In general, the interview amounts to almost nothing for most schools that have them. For a few, which it can matter greatly, that number is even smaller.
And even then, the interviews will only be helpful for those in the grey area. If you’re a shoo-in, you’re in. If you’re gonna be rejected b/c the rest of your app is “meh”, no interview will save you.
FYI: I’m a 25+ year interviewer for my Ivy alma mater. If my own kid were applying, I’d tell her not to use the service.
