How strong is SEAS?

I know its not ranked as highly as other good engineering schools, but those who attend SEAS or know anything about it, how good really is SEAS? I'm planning to do biomedical engineering there. Is it a smart choice if i go to SEAS instead of carnegie mellon or wustl? Thanks!

I just posted this for someone else:

I got into both of those schools. A ton of people turn down Berkeley and plenty turn down MIT. SEAS isn't an engineering powerhouse and isn't a top 5 engineering research institution (like MIT, Berkeley, Caltech, Stanford, etc.). But, you get a solid engineering education but you still get to be in NYC, a well-rounded liberal arts education, an Ivy league school, etc. SEAS grads have tons of opportunities outside of engineering, too.

There's industry in the NY area -- in upstate NY and in Jersey. There's no manufacturing plants in NYC.

SEAS isn't ranked that highly because of the grad school isn't a powerhouse and because the faculty isn't yet world-class. I wouldn't let that affect the choice of undergrad. And, while Mellon and Wash U. are solid engineering programs, it isn't like you're comparing SEAS to MIT or Caltech.

Visit all of them and go where you want to be and feel comfortable at. Don't worry about rankings at this point.

SEAS is pretty strong. I spotted it for 3 reps of 255 on bench yesterday. Legs are a little weak though.

Thanks for the info! If I really cared about rankings I wouldn't have asked this question in the first place. :)
