For someone with a family making 120k-140k a year(Not expecting much from FAFSA)

expect anywhere from 25-37k in parent contribution

You’re not serious. Oh crap…

I would say 1337 is being conservative, as well. Expect 25-37k contribution from your income alone. If you have assets, it’s going to be much higher.

There’s a financial aid calculator on their website. Plug in your numbers and you’ll have a better idea of what you’d be likely to receive.

What I can tell you is that CC people report that Stanford’s aid is comparable to Harvard’s, which is among the most generous in the country. My D received financial aid estimates from HYPSC, Georgetown, and Duke. From best to worst the packages went in this order: Y, P, H, S, C, D, G.

Take note that you can negotiate down your parental contribution if your case is reasonably justifiable and/or you have a lower NEED-BASED price from another university (might help if the university is of comparable standing).

We have no assets. And 25-37k parent contribution, considering where my parents live and the C.O.L, is putting a huge strain on them.

Well, I got about 22k. Is this per year?Or per term. Either of which, it’s still pretty hefty.

That is for this year. The Stanford financial aid office can and (I think) does recalculate aid each year. I’ve actually heard troubling rumors of Stanford decreasing need-based aid in subsequent years, a rather sinister notion, haha.
