How structural do you have to be?

I'm having tremendous difficulty writing my college essay...I'm trying to convey my personality and how I think in a rather simple story.

Yet, in my essay, the story is told as if it were being described as a graphic novel. I guess I'm trying to be creative, but I don't know if I have a balance...

Um...can you rephrase your question? What exactly are you asking?

Uh, yeah, sorry, my question was kinda vague...

Basically, how important is structure in an essay? Yes, I know any essay needs structure, but does a college essay need to follow the typical introduction, body, conclusion? Or does it have to be written in the first person??

For example, I've heard of college essays that have been written as one-act play scripts. Can one be as creative as this in an essay???

Gah, sorry if I'm sounding vague...

You don't need the typical introduction, body, and conclusion, and it doesn't have to be written in the first person.

As to writing an essay in a different format, that's more of a risk. You can do it, and they may like it, but there's no guarantees.
