wow- my dad's 5'4

My dad is 6'5 and my mom is 5'4ish. I think my dad is secretly disappointed that I didn't grow taller... I'm glad, though. :p

a better question for me would be "how short are you?"
i'm 5'1

I'm 5 10" nd am goin into 10th grade... so i guess I'm preddy tall for my age??

Bump (10 Char)

Browsing through this thread, there seem to be a fair amount of taller ladies (5'7 and up) who are a little embarrassed sometimes about being tall and how it might limit the guys you date.

Do not ever feel bad about being tall, you lucky bhes!*

As a really short person, I would LOVE to be tall. All the supermodels are tall, many actresses are tall, most athletes (bar the figure skaters and gymnasts) are tall.

Being tall means you have longer legs, longer arms, a longer torso. Sorry if I sound ridiculous and superficial, but in our current culture being taller is usually considered more attractive. Taller people-- as long as they're THIN-- are usually much more elegant-looking than small people.

Not to generalize TOO much, but shorter people (and I can speak from experience), no matter how skinny they are, sometimes look a little tubby in their upperarms and legs, because they're shorter. Taller people can get away with weighing more because their weight is spread out. Taller people's arms and legs usually looking leaner, because they're longer. Many short people often look more stubby. Taller women often have longer torsos, which, if they're thin, look even better in bikinis than a short woman's short upper body.

It's just the truth, folks! Didn't mean to offend anyone-- there are a lot of attractive, shorter people out there-- but taller people usually are considered stronger-looking, more elegant-looking and more attractive.

You can throw around all the examples you want that count towards the contrary-- the tiny beauties like Salma Hayek and Eva Longoria and Lucy Liu and Sarah Michelle Gellar-- but then there's the tall, long beauties like Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Gisele Bundchen etc.

As a short person, I'd rather have a tall body type a la model Adriana Lima than be a small person like Kylie Minogue.

Being small CAN limit the boys you date as well. While some might find it "funny" to see a tall women with a date that only comes up to her shoulders, it's equally "funny" to see a tall man with a chick that only comes up a little above his elbows.

Many guys may SAY they want a smaller girl so they can be "protective" of her, but a lot of guys I know would prefer a girl who isn't so small she's child-sized either. Even if a chick is short but "womanly"-- by that I mean, a larger chest, some hips (in a sexy way)-- she STILL risks looking top heavy.

Even being big-breasted looks better on a taller chick than on a short chick!

If I had a choice of staying the way I am (really short) or being tall (like 5'8-5'10) I would take the latter in a SECOND! In my opinion, having long legs trumps looking "cute" and "tiny" ANY day!

Plus, it sucks always having to look UP at people.

Being short is tough on your self-esteem, even for girls. I feel really bad for guys who are really short, too.

Wow that's long and drawn up.

I'm a guy and I'm 5' 11". I consider myself lucky because besides my mother's dad (my maternal grandfather) and one of her brother, everyone in both sides of my family are short. As in 5' 5" and less.

And as for girls I prefer them to be around my height (not more).

valentina, have some short pride. But ditto on that having to look up at people thing. And then they use you for shoulder rests. And pat your head. And say "WOW, I never realized how SHORT you were"...repeatedly...

But I like being short. Really.

Don't forget 1) people patting your head, just to emphasize what a small person you are in relation to them 2) people who are shorter but not AS short as you using you as a self-esteem booster "Well, at least I'm not as short as you..." That sort of kills your own self-esteem, obviously.

I know a lot of short people with genuine short pride, and not overinflated, secretly-bitter, compensation-type "pride." I feel really glad for them, and I don't mean that sarcastically at all. I guess I really need work in developing short pride myself because I'm not going to change and grow!

Just for the short guys out there: I know a lot of girls who, while liking a big strong guy to be "protective" of them, don't think that being "strong" is always akin to being tall. Many shorter guys are more compact and solidly built, while many tall guys are GANGLY, skinny types. So short guys shouldn't feel too bad.

I'd rather have a well-built short guy than a gangly tall guy, and I know some taller chicks who would agree.

You must be very short or something, because I'm slightly shorter than 5'4" and I've never had any of the problems you describe. I would never want to be 5'7".

Because I have nothing better to do before the world cup game...

I'll first reiterate that I'm a 5'5"(on a good day) guy...and I will speak from MY experience and preferences...

Unless it's in EXTREME cases, these girls have nothing to worry about. The only time I'd even have doubts about a girls height is say 5'10"+. That said, as I've said before, it never stopped me from dating a girl who was 6'+ and from seriously flirting with a chick who was 5'10ish the other day.

I'd personally KILL to have these supposed tubby arms and legs. My arms are well built from working out, but I have scrawny "tall girl" legs. The only "issue" I have with my height/body makeup is my chest which is actually my fault. I often look a bit "fat" with a loose shirt on because my chest is so huge from working out.

No way, no how. You don't know how many guys would prefer a short chick over a tall chick for various uhhhhh "passionate incident" reasons. I could get into detail about what most guys say about these types of things...but I think its TOO HOT FOR CC.

I don't know the guys you know, but I know the girls I know who are "child sized" are usually getting hit on ten times more than the taller girls. I don't know your top heavy comment either...I can't say I'd complain about a girl who is "top heavy"...

No, now you just need to stop. If we want to get into a discussion on breasts...I will tell you a "B" is FAR more appealing to me on a shorter chick than it is on a tall girl. Same goes for C and D(ohmahgod, my ex was 5' and had Ds...it was like perfection reincarnated). I'll admit anything above that would look goofy on a smaller girl though.

no bump......

yes bump .

Short People Are People Too!!! (gta3)

6'2.5"....Is it weird that I prefer short petite girls?

I'm a girl and I'm 5'9".

No, raggeton_boy, I'm pretty petite and I prefer guys who are tall.

I'm a girl and I'm 5'10", maybe 5'11" by now...

Sometimes I wish I was shorter, which would make it easier for me to find a guy who is taller than me. And I would be able to wear higher high heels, which make calves look really great :)

But I guess I'll embrace that which sets me apart from the masses

i think most of us tall guys like shorter girls. alot of the guys on my team have short girlfriends. besides id feel intimidated with a girl around my height
