I'm a guy and I'm 5' 11".

5'9" male...for some reason only attracted to girls 5'8" or shorter

I'm also a 5'11" guy.

5'11'' guy

my cousin is 6'3'', he is a gaint chinese. Then again height runs on my mother's side.

I'm a girl, just turned 17, and I'm about 5'6"-5'7" ish.

I've also noticed a decreasing trend in the average height of high school students. I hope I can eventually be 6'.

For the record, I'm 5'5". Male.

I dont know what causes it but males keep getting smaller and smaller, not just in height but also in body build and strength.

I dont have any fact on this, but It justs eems to be something that I have noticed, such as when the new Freshmen came in on JV, they were always so much smaller. I can also see this in team photos and statistics.

I think it may have to do as I mentioned before the lack of need for size and strength, children dont do anything anymore.

True natural strength has nothing to do with activity level or physique. The first time I ever sat on a bench I was able to do 20+(I believe the number was either 21 or 24) reps of my body weight +30 lbs(my freshman year I was 105 and we had to bench 135 for our fitness test). On the contrast, there was a 6' 200+ lber defensive lineman who struggled with 7 reps. I was your average junk food junky my frosh year and I was full of natural strength.

From my experience(going to a school which prides itself on it's athletics) kids are getting stronger without necessarily getting bigger.

5'6 (female)

5'9 (male)

5' 5 or 5' 6. Male.

I wish I were a bit taller. 5' 8 or 5' 9 would do. Oh well I'm 17. I don't think I'll grow that much seeing as I've been 5' 5 since I was like 12. I seriously have not grown since. It's weird because I was always one of the strongest, tallest, and fastest in my class up until just about 7th grade. Then from that point on everyone just kept growing and I stood the same. Hell my weight never even changed by much and actually went down a bit until recently this last year I've gained some weight and I'm up to 130-135 lbs now.

i'm 6ft, and male. i like my women 5'7 and shorter

5' 8" male.

I'm 5'4", a girl, and not attracted to guys (generally) unless they are at least 5'9". My crush right now is 6'3".

is height really that important when dating? (a general question to everyone)

yes. it is important for dating. I would have no respect for a guy who's shorter than me or my height, when I'm in heels. I know that sounds awful, but I just couldn't take him seriously. Plus I like to feel "protected" and I just wouldn't. . . . also going back to nature and instinctual attraction, I would want my kids to be taller than I am, as society generally favors tall people, and one way to get taller kids is to be with a taller guy.

I've never dated, so this is all theoretical, but I do like guys to be taller than me. I had my growth spurts pretty early, so I grew up feeling big and hating it... now I'm 5'6, which is just above average, but I still deeply dislike feeling larger than anyone.

The average guy (in the US anyway) is 5' 10". Go figure. I think either Sweden or the Netherlands has the average tallest height for males in the world (a little over six feet I believe).

so respect can be gained by simply being tall?

not simply by being tall, but it helps. I would rather be friends with a short nice/smart/fun guy than a tall stupid/dull guy, but when it comes to being attracted in that way, height is deffinetly one of the required factors.

It's really not about respect for me. I'm perfectly able to respect a guy who's shorter than me; I'd just feel grotesque in comparison. I wouldn't be able to feel pretty next to a guy who took up less space than me.
