So if i wanna send a letter to the adcom, how do i address them?

Dear Admissions Committee,
Dear Office of Admissions,

It doesn't matter. I would probably say To Whom It May Concern but honestly, why would the admissions committee/office of admissions care?

im international, so i am quite unaware of US officials' love for formalities.
thank you though..

"Hai Guise,

I have an admissions question...

Smell Ya Later,
XYZ"

I would suggest trying to address it specifically to the admissions officer responsible for your geographic area. Sometimes this is listed on the website. Or you can email the office and ask who the admissions officer assigned to your area is. If that doesn't work then I would suggest addressing it to the Director of Admissions. You can probably find his/her name on the website. That person will then forward your letter to the correct person. I wouldn't address it to the admissions committee since they might not actually operate with a formal committee. Good luck!

Or, possibly: "Your Majesty", "Your Benevolent One", "Your Excellency"....?

This is good advice, but--like many things in life--"timing is everything." For a letter sent now (late Feb/early March), which may be providing information about a current applicant or even a future one, then it's indeed often most appropriate to contact a regional rep directly.

But after the current "reading season" ends (which is any day now at some places and soon at others), admission folks often hit the highways and may be out of the office for stretches of a week or two. This is also especially true in the fall. (The length and frequency of trips will vary from college to college and from one admission officer to the next.)

So, depending on the time of year or the urgency of your question or concern, you may be better off with a more generic, "Dear Office of Admission."

Note, however, that although you should be judicious about making e-mail contact with admission officials, most do continue to receive email while on the road these days, though you may get an "out-of-office auto-reply" in your in-box.

^^ agreed. I was just going to advise you to find the person who is in charge of your geographical location and address it directly to them.

Address the letter to the name of your regional admissions officer.

I believe "Overlord" is the proper term
