Hi guys,
I applied for Purdue admission for Fall 2015, But I got denied due to academic expectations. I applied for aerospace engineering but got denied. I am an american citizen but did my high-school in India.
My Sat score is: 1850. I got a high-school gpa of 4.0 ( 96% overall high school grade). My extracurricular activities are very good ( Did internships, vocational courses and recieved many other certificates), and essays are good.
How can I appeal for Purdue academic decision. Please it is very IMPORTANT to me. Purdue is my first priority.
Here is the link if you guys want to check my stats:
Please chance me for Purdue, Texas A&M, University of Texas Austin, UCLA
Thanks deprage and billscho. Yeah, my sat is pretty low, but I heard people getting into Purdue with pretty low sat scores. I did appeal by sending a reconsideration form to Purdue. I changed my major from Aerospace to Mechanical Engineering, don’t know whether it will help or not. I’l get to know within 2-3 weeks.
I don’t know what’s up with Purdue this year. I just came across a guy(in CC) who had SAT scores in 2200s and got wait listed. Would you mind sharing your 10th grade percentage/GPA? Purdue gives a lot of importance to it.
It is a common misconception to believe that an appeal could/should be filed when the applicant believes admission’s decision was incorrect or unfair. The chances of such appeals succeeding are essentially zero, since the university was neither arbitrary nor capricious in its determination. However, if erroneous data was provided or if important new information is available, an appeal has a slightly greater opportunity of success.
Yeah Top Tier, that’s what the Purdue admission counselor said when I asked her my chances If I wanted to appeal, but I thought I’l try my luck and appeal. Do you guys think, maybe sending an additional essay or two and my sat subject scores could make a difference? MY math is 700 and Physics is 680. I did emphasise in the reconsideration form how I really wanted to get In to Purude and all that.
Look, I’m not trying to be difficult, but every admissions organization attempts to do things fairly. Of course, that mean that if they accept an “essay or two” from you, they necessarily MUST offer the same opportunity to everyone else. That’s simply not going to happen.
The problem is that an 1850 is pretty low for a top-ranked STEM program and does not “line up” with a 4.0 GPA. In other words if you’re at the top of your HS class and could only manage an 1850, your HS will be viewed as not particularly rigorous.
