How to apply for 2 majors in one college?

Hi all, I am preparing the RD application and wondering how to apply for two majors within one college. I understand there is Primary/Alternate route, but that is for two different colleges? If I get rejected by the particular program I applied (without using the Primary/Alternate option), does it mean I am done with Cornnell?

I don’t think you can apply for 2 majors within one college. I had a same question, so I sent an e-mail to Cornell Admissions, and they said choose one that I am interested in the most… So basically yea, if you don’t get into that major, it’s done with that college… I believe.

Too bad. There are at least 2 or 3 other majors in the same college that fit my interests.

why not apply undecided? or is the college u want not CAS?

Which college are you applying to? For some colleges I don’t think you are actually applying to a specific major. Just pick one major or go undecided. In the end you are only going to have one major unless you double major.

I do not think that CALS has ‘undecided’ as an option.

Well, I applied to engineering and it had undecided as an option. Just pick a major that interests you the most. And if two or more interest you the same amount just flip a coin or something. You can always switch majors once you get in. Jeez, it is not that hard; I’d figure a prospective cornell student would be smart enough to figure this out on their own without making a thread.

jb5555, you need to read and comprehend the thread first. Then, you can either walk away, or do some background check before jumping to a conclusion, which does not make you look any smarter. I am applying for RD AEM in CALS, and mellowerica applied for ED AEM.

You or the other guy didnt mention anything about AEM or which colleges you are applying to. And if you are applying to AEM then why even make a thread like this? If AEM is the major you are most interested in then I think you should apply to that. And how come you didn’t mention any other majors in your previous post? Are they not important enough or something?

Obviously, you are the one who got confused and did not understand the true question even after I clearly said that there is no ‘undecided’ option for CALS (Post #6) in response to Campuscsi’s post. Extrapolating your experience with Engineering and making some unnecessary comments would not work out in your favor if not the other way around.

Well if you are interested in more than one major then why only say that you are applying to AEM? Why not say I want to apply to AEM and X major? And also how come you didn’t say what college and majors you want to apply to in your first post? That information could help people give you better advice. Didn’t you think of that? I only mentioned the undecided option because I did not know that you were applying to CALS. And also unless you double or triple major you are only going to have one major. And the sooner you find out what you are really interested in and what one major is right for you, the better.
